Overview
The Richard L. Duchossois Foundation is honored to support the work of its incredible grantees and partners. While your organization, priorities, and stakeholder communities should be the focus of your communications, the Foundation is proud to be connected to grantees and understands there may be instances where partners would like to mention RLD Foundation support.
The information below provides guidance for communicating about RLD Foundation grants, as well as the use of the name, logo, or other communications assets. Please note the information contained here does not replace the terms outlined in grant agreements. Any external communications that use the RLD Foundation name or logo must be approved in advance.
The Foundation appreciates the impact your organization has on the Chicagoland community and looks forward to supporting your efforts. If you have specific questions related to the RLD Foundation or its partnership with your organization not covered in this document, please don’t hesitate to reach out to communications@rldfoundation.org.
Use of the Logo and Images
Grantees may use the RLD Foundation’s logo on print materials and their website to highlight its support. When using the logo, please refer to the following guidelines:
- Ensure the logo looks legible (e.g. not pixelated or stretched). Please maintain the existing aspect ratio (1:1) when resizing.
- Provide a hyperlink to the Foundation website when using the logo online (https://www.rldfoundation.org)
- Please send links to materials and/or sites in which the RLD Foundation logo is used to communications@rldfoundation.org prior to publishing.
- Please do not modify the logo in any way. If you’d like to use the logo in a non-traditional way or need another color format, please contact the Foundation for guidance.
- Use of grantee organization’s logo should always precede that of RLD Foundation’s.
The primary version of the RLD Foundation logo can be downloaded here in a variety of digital formats.
Grantees may not use other graphics or images from the RLD Foundation website, including those of Richard L. Duchossois, without express permission from the Foundation. Please note that the Foundation’s name, logo, or related images may not be used in a way that implies endorsement of political activities, commercial products, religious affiliations, or unrelated causes.
Use of the Foundation’s Name
If the Foundation is referred to in print (either digital or hard copy), please use the full organization title, Richard L. Duchossois Foundation. In instances where the Foundation is referred to more than once in the same piece, the organization name may be shortened to RLD Foundation in subsequent mentions.
Please note – there are multiple distinct and independent foundations with the Duchossois family name. These foundations operate separately from one another, so please ensure the correct name (Richard L. Duchossois Foundation or RLD Foundation) is used in all references.

Press Releases and Announcements
The Foundation encourages grantees to share news of grant awards and any impact or outcomes from their work with the broader community. Sharing this information creates visibility for the issues the Foundation hopes to address through its investments. If you plan to issue a press release that will mention the Foundation, please email a draft copy to communications@rldfoundation.org to ensure it is formally approved and includes the most accurate and current information about the Foundation prior to any publication.
Statements for the Media
Members of the RLD Foundation team are more than willing to collaborate in providing quotes for use in press announcements and releases. Please reach out to your Foundation contact for assistance.
Sharing Media Coverage
Please forward any links with media coverage that refers to the Foundation or this grant to communications@rldfoundation.org. The Foundation appreciates the opportunity to learn how grantee organizations connect with the community and welcomes the opportunity to highlight these stories within its own networks.
Social Media
Grantees are encouraged to connect with and follow RLD Foundation on LinkedIn. Please feel free to mention or tag the Foundation in LinkedIn posts.
Though the Foundation does not currently have a presence on other social media platforms, grantees are invited to share via email any posts in which the Foundation is referenced.
Photos and Impact Stories
The Foundation is eager to hear more about grantees’ work and the impact it has on Chicago’s communities. RLD Foundation invites partners to share news stories, research, publications, annual reports, pictures, and videos with staff via communications@rldfoundation.org. Please note any submissions may be featured on RLD Foundation’s website, in monthly e-newsletters, and in other Foundation publications.
Photos
We invite grantees to share digital photos that demonstrate the breadth and impact of their work. Before sharing with the Foundation, please ensure you have the permission of the photographer and anyone included in the photo to use and distribute the image. The Foundation will provide credit for all images; please ensure pertinent information is included to do so. High-quality photos (1500 x 1000 pixels or larger) are preferred to ensure they can be used in a variety of media formats.
