Program Areas

“I don’t look at it as a contribution, I look at it as my responsibility.”

Richard L. Duchossois

Sustained commitments for maximum impact.

In keeping with the vision of Mr. Duchossois, we prioritize supporting families, veterans, and entrepreneurs in their pursuit of the American dream.

RLDF primarily funds efforts and organizations in the Chicago metropolitan area.  We support non-profit organizations that are aligned with our goals and operate programs with 1) demonstrated track records of success or 2) are based on research that points to promising solutions.

The foundation focuses on three areas of interest: Veterans, Strong Families, and Entrepreneurs. Over the next few years we look forward to learning from our grant making, our grantees, and the experts in these fields.

As we learn – we anticipate that we will refine our grant making strategies and criteria.   Most importantly – we look forward to sharing what we learn with our colleagues and our community.

Entrepreneurs

We envision a Chicagoland where entrepreneurs have equitable opportunities to access the technical, relational and financial capital they need to achieve their professional goals.

Strong Families

Housing, education and workforce training, and health care are critical for family stability and economic opportunity. Yet too many families face barriers to accessing the supports they need to thrive. Our goal is to connect low-income families with tools and resources that create pathways to economic mobility.

Veterans

When US veterans return from military service, they often face barriers to secure employment, stable housing, and access to high quality health care. Comprehensive supports can play a vital role in overcoming barriers during reintegration and beyond.
